Andy Kahrs is a singer, songwriter, and guitarist with a distinct roots sound based in blues, soul, and classic country with storytelling sensibilities that come alive with heartfelt vocals and a unique slide-guitar/fingerpicking style. His authentic tone of voice draws equally from Randy Travis and Otis Redding, yet stands out as uniquely his own.
His EP Release, Together, was met with critical acclaim and streaming success, being featured on Spotify’s ‘Got Blues’ and ‘Best Blues Songs’ editorial playlists. Nashville’s Music Mecca lauded his “vocal prowess” and “unique sound that stands out from the usual Nashville subjects” and claimed his “Sleepin’ On Yourself” as #8 on its Year End Review of Top 10 Releases from Nashville Indie Artists in 2023. With over 4,000 monthly Spotify listeners and a busy touring schedule, Kahrs has made a name for himself as one to watch in the Americana scene.
A native of Georgia, Kahrs started his career playing blues bars in Atlanta and Athens, GA as a solo artist and bandleader. While on the West Coast, he discovered a musical connection to the songs of Glen Campbell and opened a new chapter of his performing career with RHINESTONE – a Salute to the Legacy of the contemporary music legend. The show debuted in the Bay Area at the Historic El Campanil Theatre in Antioch CA and continues to receive enthusiastic responses and sellout crowds throughout its ongoing performance stops around the country. He continues touring nationally in his own shows and concerts including recent Special Appearances with Country Music Legend LACY J. DALTON; Performer and Songwriter EVAN BARTELS; 2-Time Grammy Award winner MADS TOLLING; and “Ambassador of the Blues” Guitarist ALVON JOHNSON.
Kahrs has worked with producers Zach Allen (Keb’ Mo’, Kingfish) and Bobby Holland (Maggie Rose, ZZ Ward) for recent releases and his upcoming recordings and performances feature an acoustic sound that experiments with the well-worn boundaries of blues and slide guitar.
